In what’s easily the biggest cocktease in the history of industrial music, Primitive Race keep teasing the world with who may be in their band. The new goal is to hit 1500 followers by 5p.m. Today (May 10th) if that happens, the band will release the names of two new members. Make it happen everyone!!!
Since the initial publishing of this story, Primitive Race has announced two new names. First was Chris Vrenna (Tweaker, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, etc.) shortly followed by Raymond Watts (PIG, KMFDM, Schwien, etc.) So clearly, this isn’t just some bullshit band. These are some heavy hitters in the industrial scene! Also, I was completely wrong about the REVCO connection. If you wanna know who’s next, make sure to head over to Primitive Race’s Twitter account and give em a follow!!! Let’s get this done!!!
In one of the more clever and exciting marketing campaigns in recent memory, a group going by the name of Primitive Race has taken over social media, dropping hints as to who they are, without releasing names of people involved. They claimed that some of the members of the band were once signed to the legendary industrial label Wax Trax! Now don’t get me wrong, I see this kind of shameless self promotion on Twitter all the time. I figured it was just a group of guys that were wanting to hype up some bullshit group that would’ve sounded fresh in the early 90’s. Also, I figured that they were probably signed to TVT and not Wax Trax!, and they were using the WT! connection to gain notoriety.
See, none of the members of the group had been publicly released yet. They way it shakes down is the group would announce a member once they hit 1,000 followers on Twitter, then a new member with every 500 followers thereafter. Late last week, when the band hit 1,000 followers, they announced that Luc Van Acker of Revolting Cocks fame was involved in the project. All of a sudden, the band gained a sort of legitimacy in my eyes. Safe to say, my interest has been piqued and I’m not alone. The Twitterverse has been buzzing about exactly who else is involved in the project. Speculation is high and people are guessing new names, but to no avail.
But as one person pointed out after the revelation of Van Acker’s involvement was that the old logo for the Revolting Cocks looks suspiciously like it could also be a P and an R. Check it out:
See it? Who really knows if this is all just coincidence, or maybe something more. Since Al Jourgensen highjacked the Revolting Cocks moniker to establish a new group with the same name, who’s to say that Primitive Race could just be the “original” cocks? Only time will reveal the answer to exactly who or what Primitive Race is…
If you are as curious as I am to find out, follow Primitive Race on Twitter and on Facebook and SPREAD THE WORD!!!
