When you load up your Itunes and hit shuffle, what comes up? It could be good, it could be bad or anywhere in between. Shuffle Sunday is a look at what happens when I load up my library and hit play. Hopefully it will introduce you to a new artist you like, remind you of an old favorite or maybe just give you a good laugh! So without further ado, let’s see what Shuffle has in store this week…..
Papa Roach “Last Resort”
Oh god. Fuck you Itunes!!! This could be one of my all time most hated songs! Of all fucking time! Idon’t think there is a single redeeming quality about this song. The guitar riff is awful, the “rapping” is horrible, the content of the lyrics is embarrassing. Everything about this is completely wrong. The fact that songs like this were made proves there is no God. This is the musical equivalent of getting fucked with a broadsword. Actually, that might be better cause your not gonna survive that shit. At least if Conan the Barbarian battle sexed my ass with his steel I would be dead and never have to hear this absolute turd of a song again.
The Good, The Bad & The Queen “Kingdom of Doom”
Damon Albarn is one of the coolest dudes around. He kind of just does what he wants and doesn’t answer to anyone. Blur was big and then he just said fuck it and hung out with Gorillaz. Seems like everything he every really touched turned to gold. To be honest though, I’ve never really given this record a chance. Mostly just because I really hated the band name (what a stupid reason.) But seeing as how solid his past output has been, I should check the rest of it out. If this track is any indication, it may not be a bad thing.
Antonio Carlos Jobim “Bonita”
Is there a person on the face of the earth that doesn’t appreciate Jobim? I mean what’s there not to like? It instantly transports you to a Brazilian beach where you can just kick back, listen to the surf, drink some fruity booze and check out all the gorgeous people. The only problem with this is that I’m Irish, so my pale skin would probably burn me to a crisp within seconds. Yeah, pretty sure Brazil would kill me. At least I can daydream.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds “Red Right Hand”
I dig this song and I dig Nick Cave. What a fucking weirdo! I love this song, but I can’t figure out for the life of me who sampled this. I know I’ve heard this music somewhere else but I can’t put my finger on where. Anyone out there have the answer? Let me know cause it’s gonna drive me crazy. I can’t even bring myself to write about the Nick Cave song because I can’t stop trying to figure out who bit his style. HELP!
Neurosis “Raze the Stray”
I used to play drums in a metal band way back in the day and the guitarist was a chunky hesher dude from Portland who always used to talk about Neurosis. I was too caught up in my own interests to really listen to what he was saying, but I really wish that I would’ve cause I’ve come to really like them. There are some really great elements on this track with the strings and piano playing in the background. Neurosis albums are a serious investment though. If you wanna listen to em, you’d better be prepared to spend some quality time with your speakers, cause it’s really intense.
WINNER OF THE WEEK: It’s gotta be the Neurosis track. That track is amazing. Not your typical metalhead bullshit.
TURKEY OF THE WEEK: I shouldn’t even have to write this. If you cant figure it out, than you’re an idiot and should probably stop reading this.
