R.I.P. Lou Reed (1942-2013)

Rolling Stone is reporting that the massively influential Lou Reed has passed away on Sunday.

Perhaps best known for his work with the legendary New York band The Velvet Underground, Reed’s solo career saw him push the boundaries of rock music. Unpredictability became Reed’s calling card, from the hedonistic pre-punk rock of the Velvet Underground, avant-garde noise rock of 1975’s Metal Machine Music and Lulu, his 2011 collaboration with Metallica. Reed’s music was never an “easy” listen, but supremely rewarding for those that indulged in it.

Our thoughts go out to everyone in the Reed family. Thanks for all of the years of great music Lou. You will be missed.

I am absolutely and unabashedly in love with music. If I could eat a huge bowl of songs for breakfast every morning, I totally would. I'm obsessive about categorization (don't mess with my chronological or alphabetical) and can't stand an unorganized iTunes library. Outside of music and writing, I love baseball (go Rockies), coffee, corgi's and going on fun trips with my girlfriend!
